It’s The Way You Tell ‘Em! [Naturism Advice]

nude-interview-lg

Roni Fine, a member of British Naturism, showed how the world doesn’t end when people know about your naturism. She discusses how to go about successfully telling them

In your enthusiasm to introduce people to the naturist lifestyle you may need to pause and think of how you are going to portray it, as those first few words could make the difference between attraction and repulsion.

So often I have heard the question, “Why would I want to do that?” and that can mean a lengthy explanation, so let’s get the explanation in first and they won’t need to ask!

Example 1: “I go somewhere where we all take our clothes off and lie in the sun, play sports or swim in the pool in the nude.” This usually raises the big question, “Why?”

Example 2: “After a long day at work in the summer, whilst you are on your way home in the car, stuck in the traffic, picture me on my way to my club where I will be able to jump into a pool which will be refreshing, invigorating and relaxing. I will climb out and leisurely dry myself before lounging in the sun with a drink at my side and in the company of other relaxed, contented people. I will let my skin safely soak up the much-needed vitamin D and totally unwind after a day at work. We will enjoy pleasant conversation until the sun goes down. All this and the total freedom of being naked, too.”

Famous comedian Frank Carson wasn’t wrong when he said, “It’s the way I tell ’em!” It’s all in the delivery. If you describe the sensation first and the way to achieve it second, the listener is already wanting it and will lap it up. It’s marketing!

This is what the famous M&S ads have achieved. They describe a quite ordinary meal in such a way that we are salivating at the mere thought of it. We can copy this method, “This is no ordinary way to relax - this is the naturist way to relax.” We can make it sound so much more special than everyone else’s!

When someone asks me where I go at the weekend I don’t just say, “I go to a naturist club and take my clothes off.” What does that tell them? The bare facts, yes! But it does nothing to sell naturism, or Blackthorns, in fact it runs the risk of their thinking that I’m ‘one of those strange people’, and I don’t want them to think that, at least, not because of naturism!

What I say is: “I belong to a club that is set in 15 acres of woodland. It’s a beautiful natural setting that is full of birdsong and wildlife. There are many types of trees and in spring the floor is a carpet of primroses and violets, followed by masses of bluebells. There is always the chance to spot muntjac or roe-deer that frequent the wood and so many types of birds to look out for and identify. Their songs are so beautiful. You might never hear anything like it if you live in a built-up area. It is such a relaxing place to be and I’m sure it is a help to lose some of the stresses of life and gives me a complete break. It’s like having a mini-holiday right on my doorstep! We have a pool and patio that catch the sunshine all through the day, right until the last rays are setting in the distance.

We have a communal barbecue where we cook our own food and dine together, drinking and talking until late in the evening. Families and children are included and we are of all ages and backgrounds, making an interesting group of people that can evoke conversation that you might never find elsewhere. In conversation and discussion, we are all equals, sharing laughter and friendship. We also have many sporting facilities, so we can be as active as we wish or merely soak up the sunshine - all of which is made even more comfortable by the fact that we remove the constrictions of clothing and are totally free to the world. It’s a great place to be.”

There, weren’t you lapping all that up and then, had you not been reading BN, only at the end would you have realised that we take our clothes off. Before that, not a mention of nudity or naturism, but the impression of a comfortable relaxed atmosphere - one of which who wouldn’t want to be part?

If you don’t have a club like Blackthorns (http://www.blackthorns.org.uk/) to describe you can still use your experiences, be they at a beach, swim or holiday resort. Describe your holiday with great emphasis on every aspect you think that particular listener would be keen on, whether it is a lovely beach, beautiful scenery, long walks or the nearest golf course. If you attend a swim enlarge on the friendly atmosphere and the health and fitness aspect, followed by the social side of belonging to a group of like-minded people.

Paint a picture that is so good that everyone wants some of it and then throw in the naturist factor! Leaving the nudity bit to last takes away its importance and hopefully helps people to accept that it is a natural part of our life and not the only part.

Once this aspect has been mentioned, keep the attention by describing the feeling of invigoration and freedom. Ask if they have watched the television programme How to Look Good Naked. Most know of it as once the word ‘naked’ is used people will watch! Isn`t it amazing that the one subject they find repulsive in reality is the one they find compulsive television viewing! The expression used to describe the final photo shoot by the ladies who have found the courage to strip for it is “liberating”. Almost all have said that nudity was their biggest fear and, once done, they have found the strength to face the world and anything it might throw at them. And to think we are doing this all the time!

Of course, there will be some who still suspect nudity equals sexual activity, and that is to be expected of some narrow-minded individuals who only see naked bodies depicted in that way. It isn’t really their fault that they are suspicious, but we must try to explain the difference and it is our open attitude that will guide them to accept that our social nudity is of a non-sexual nature.

Explain that because everyone is naked it becomes the norm and no longer attracts the attention that it would in the high street. In fact it is the newcomer, still fully dressed, that gets noticed. As for any sexual attraction, just point out that it is the addition of clothing that evokes these feelings. Partial clothing of the body is far more of a tease - you only have to look at the relevant magazines for examples of that. I always tell people that, if they should come and look at the naked bodies lying around the pool, they would soon find it boring as they are quite inactive and all pretty much alike. People are not behaving competitively nor parading or preening themselves, but are relaxed and at ease with each other. Remind people that this is how it is at any naturist beach or swim. If they want a bit more activity, then promote Nudefest or the [Blackpool] weekends! Ensure they realise naturism covers all ages and interests, including sports for which they need only join BN and a whole new world is open to them! A lot of people don`t realise that naturism can be so much more than merely removing one’s clothes!

Be prepared for people to say they couldn’t do this because they are overweight, unattractive, have scars, cellulite or whatever else they can think of to blame. Be ready to explain that they are not too overweight, or anything else, as naturism is accepting of all shapes and sizes. Be careful you don’t sound like you are agreeing with them on this one, merely explaining that whatever they are, and however they feel, they are perfectly able to participate and will not be judged. Whilst reminding them that naturism is about body acceptance and not body beautiful, be careful you do not imply they are not! Show them your copy of BN or direct them to the website to prove we are just everyday normal people and not all super-model types. Try to convey the confidence boost we can feel simply by finding the strength to shed our clothes and inhibitions, and the feel-good factor it brings with it. I try to explain the feeling by relating it to the wondrous relief we get when kicking off a pair of shoes after a long, hard day, but you get this feeling all over when you shed your clothes!

Have a reply ready for when people ask why you are a naturist, so that it sounds spontaneous but truthful. Think hard - why do you do this? The simple answer I give is that it feels nice. I remind people that I do it to feel good - not to be seen, not to upset or shock, not to push the boundaries of the law, not to demand my rights as a citizen, simply because it feels nice. I then go on to explain why I attend a club to do this. I know it isn’t against the law to be naked in public (and it is always worth stating that), but I still prefer to be somewhere I feel comfortable and safe in the knowledge that no one is going to be upset. Personally, I think I gain respect by saying I don’t wish to cause offence. I don’t want to provoke a confrontation and, whether we like it or not, the majority of the public are just not ready for us - yet! Let’s get them used to our being naked in certain places first, take away the shock aspect of it and educate them that we are just ordinary people. If we show them respect by doing this in recognised places, be it clubs, allocated beaches or private gardens, they will show us respect in return. With a gradual approach we might soon be able to openly sunbathe nude in public parks as they do on the continent. First, we need to take away the fear people have of us because, let’s face it, their reaction is usually down to being afraid - what other reason is there for them to object to seeing a body without clothes? Personally, I would be much more afraid of encountering a masked man, a “hoodie”, or other threatening-looking person in a lonely spot, than a naked man!

Whatever your long-term views, we must wean the public on to naturism gradually so that they accept it. If we try to do too much too quickly, they will not want to listen but will vote against it every time. As the Ashanti people in Ghana told Baden-Powell, “Softly, softly catchee monkey!”

John Lennon [Heroes Of iNAKED]

John Winston Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician and singer-songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Along with fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.

This article is from Absolute Elsewhere: The Spirit of John Lennon:

John Lennon was clearly a supporter of a human being’s right to nudity, be it in private or in public. At a time when it was unheard of for a mainstream celebrity to appear naked, John shocked the world with the controversial cover of Two Virgins. But that wasn’t his first foray into exhibitionism...and it wouldn’t be his last.

The main hang up in the world today is hypocrisy and insecurity. If people can't face up to the fact of other people being naked or smoking pot, or whatever they want to do, then we're never going to get anywhere. People have got to become aware that it's none of their business and that being nude is not obscene. Being ourselves is what's important. If everyone practiced being themselves instead of pretending to be what they aren't, there would be peace.

How Nudie Toons Was Born - In His Own Words

I started cartooning in the fifties when I was in junior high school. I've been a part-time cartoonist for over 40 years but the Nudie Toons series, which has been my most successful cartoon venture, didn't happen until 1998. I had just started my first Web site and it was there that Jan Crimmings found me.

Jan is the founder of Netnude.com, a very popular nudist Web site. She felt that her Web site needed some humor so she started browsing the Internet looking for a cartoonist. She found my site and e-mailed me asking if I would be interested in doing a weekly cartoon for her. The idea intrigued me, even though I was not a practicing nudist. I had been to a nudist resort on one occasion and that was the extent of my nudist experience. This was a concern to Jan because she felt I would not understand the nudist point of view. I explained to her that, in my years of cartooning, I created cartoons on all types of topics and that I specialized in creating humor on very specific slants. I assured her I would study her site and could relate to her viewers. She gave me the go-ahead and apparently I succeeded because the series has now been running for ten years.

In the beginning, I wrote all of the gags for this series but Jan and I soon realized that it wasn't going to be easy to come up with a new idea every week on nudism. Jan invited her readers to contribute ideas, and this not only gave us the ideas we needed, but it actually added to the popularity of the series. Readers seem to like being involved. We encourage readers to submit their ideas, and when I use one, we make sure that reader gets credit as the gagwriter. In many instances, I have to rewrite the ideas a bit to make them funny, but the collaboration seems to work. I still write perhaps 75% of the ideas, but over the years we've had some great ideas submitted by readers.

From the beginning, Jan Crimmings wanted to publish a book of Nudie Toons. We agreed, in the beginning, that we would work toward this goal and share in the royalties if it ever came to be. We collected cartoons for over 9 years and then Jan found a publisher, Paul Rappaport of Heureka Productions. Paul did a marvelous job in putting the book together, although he is a stickler for details and drove both Jan and I crazy with some of the changes he wanted as we were putting the book together. In retrospect, though, I think he did help us to create a pretty good book.

The book, entitled The Funny Side of Going Naked—The First Nudie Toons Collection, actually carries only about half of the cartoons I've drawn for this series. We decided, when we published this book, that we want to sell it to nudists, but we also want to offer it to the general public through traditional bookstores. The book has only been out since November, 2007, and we haven't received our first reports from the distributor yet, so we don't know how it is doing with the general public. We have sold plenty of copies to nudists, though, and expect this to be a big gift item this coming Christmas.

I'm enjoying the success of this series but I have to say a lot of people have contributed to making it happen. If Jan Crimmings hadn't had so much faith in me and this concept, it might never have happened. A number of nudists have contributed valuable ideas for the cartoons. Some of the cartoons were even drawn by another cartoonist, the late George Crenshaw, who was a friend and mentor to me. We've also enjoyed a lot of exposure from several magazines and Web sites that have picked up the cartoons and helped to make the series grow. Most of all, the loyal support of our readers is what keeps the series going.

Nude McDonald's Run: 2 People Face Indecency Charges After Going To Drive-Thru Naked [Food & Drink]

GALESBURG, Ill. -- Two people who pulled up at a McDonald's drive-thru in western Illinois completely naked face public indecency charges.

Police in Galesburg say a 19-year-old El Paso man and a 21-year-old Galesburg woman (named as Paul Kosur and Megan Gutierrez, according to myfoxphoenix.com) have been released from Knox County Jail after being ordered to appear in court to face the charges.

Paul Kosur and Megan Gutierrez
WGIL Radio reports that the duo was still in the McDonald's parking lot when officers arrived just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the man was crouched over in the driver's seat trying to pull on a pair of pants while his passenger was covering up in a blanket.

WGIL reports that the pair told officers the late night fast-food run might not have been a great idea but that they both still thought it was funny.

Xojane Real Girl Belly Project Shows Women's Non-Photoshopped Abs [Women]

This article was taken from The Huffington Post:

How often do women think positive thoughts about their bellies -- or thighs or cheeks or breasts or arms? Not very often.

But Emily McCombs at XOJane is doing her part to change that with her "Real Girl Belly Project." McCombs recently put out a call for women to send un-photoshopped pictures of their bellies to post on the site. Even better, those submitting were asked to include a few words about what they like or appreciate about that area of their bodies.

The result is a collection of 75 photos of 75 different women's bellies and, in many cases, their stories. The variety underscores how crazy it is that all models are required to have the same flat, blank abs -- no stories there -- and that anyone suggests the rest of us should, too.

Visit XOJane to see all 75 amazing midriffs.

Shocking Body-Image News: 97% Of Women Will Be Cruel To Their Bodies Today [Body Image]

This article is from glamour.com:

Scary but true: In an exclusive Glamour survey, young women recorded an average of 13 brutal thoughts about their bodies each day. We say: Enough!

Read these words: “You are a fat, worthless pig.” “You’re too thin. No man is ever going to want you.” “Ugly. Big. Gross.” Horrifying comments on some awful website? The rant of an abusive, controlling boyfriend? No; shockingly, these are the actual words young women are saying to themselves on any typical day. For some, such thoughts are fleeting, but for others, this dialogue plays on a constant, punishing loop, according to a new exclusive Glamour survey of more than 300 women of all sizes. Our research found that, on average, women have 13 negative body thoughts daily—nearly one for every waking hour. And a disturbing number of women confess to having 35, 50 or even 100 hateful thoughts about their own shapes each day.

On Reserve [Naturism]

Daryl_and_Lotte_2-_Comfort_Pure_Naturists

This article is from Nude Scribe:

There are certain body parts that the twin social strictures of religion and politics most want to cover—or, more accurately, to bind. These parts are put on reserve, so to speak: under wraps. According to the rules of repression, they can’t be checked out, or unwrapped, except by special, sweaty-palmed permission. What are these parts? They are the female breasts, and the genitals and buttocks of both sexes. (Sometimes the list expands to include the belly of either sex and the long hair of women as something that social forces desire to cover.) These organs fulfill important sexual roles, but their roles are not by any means exclusive to sex. Let’s have a look at these items on reserve and mention three rather obvious—yet rarely discussed—qualities that they share.

This article is from Nudist Day:

Skinbook was a short lived nudist social site which exploded on the scene over two years ago, its popularity seeded by worldwide press coverage. Its young founder soon found it was more than he could handle and became disillusioned, abandoning both the web site and nudism. Recently, Dario Western, an Australian nudist-activist decided to take over where Skinbook left off, determined to make it work this time.

Under The Knife [Body Image, Documentary]

Louis Theroux travels out to Los Angeles to check out the world of plastic surgery, where breast enhancements, tummy tucks, muscle implants and the like are common procedures.

Spending time in the surgeries of several plastic surgeons, Louis meets the doctors who carry out the operations and the people who feel they need work – whether it is a man looking to make his muscles look larger or a woman preparing to undergo surgery as part of improving her life. On this occasion though, Louis also undergoes a procedure himself to experience it firsthand.

If anyone else decided to have surgery as part of a film about plastic surgery I would be very cynical and assume the worst but I think Louis Theroux is unlikely to be accused of cheap tricks or gimmicks. Mostly he does a good job of getting in with his subjects and bringing them out in front of the cameras; one could accuse him of manipulating them perhaps but I think that is too harsh a description.

Here he does enough away from the gimmick of having liposuction to justify it as quite a small part of the show. The rest is interesting if not fascinating. Naturally the patients make for the most interesting scenes and some of them are curious and quite sad. Some are easy targets but Theroux’s soft touch prevents it feeling like he is getting at them.

The British Naturism Members' Holiday 2012 [Events, British Naturism]

BNlogo

Clive Edwards of British Naturism talks about 2012's BN Members' Holidays

Once again, I have taken on the project of arranging a holiday exclusively for members of British Naturism - in fact in 2012, there will be TWO of them!

The concept is part of BN's Three Year Plan and last year 20 or so of us had a fantastic week at Infiniti on Fuerteventura, with that opportunity to meet others and enjoy good company on holiday. Although they are for members only, any non-member wishing to go can easily join British Naturism to take advantage!

Where Are We Going In 2012?

10 - 17 March - El Portús, Spain

For those who cannot wait until July, we are organising another holiday to mainland Spain to the delightful resort of El Portús. We hope to get together a group of BN members for a week of conviviality and fun.

Accommodation is available in studio apartments and mobile homes.

El Portus is open all year, right on the beach, with two pools – one covered and heated in winter – restaurant, bar, shop, tennis courts, on site rock climbing, kayaking and scuba diving; fitness centre with sauna, Jacuzzi, exercise machines, massage and aromatherapy; wi-fi, set in a National Park in an area rich with history and interest, close to the lively town of Cartagena, with festivals and activity all year round. There are frequent flights to Murcia or Alicante from many UK airports.

4 - 21 July - Infiniti, Fuerteventura

Our destination - once again - is Fuerteventura, a sandy desert-like Canary island, surrounded by warm turquoise ocean just off the African coast. Our watering hole on this expedition will be Infiniti Villas on the outskirts of Corralejo in the north of the island. This is a self catering holiday, though all apartments have fully fitted kitchens and there are several restaurants within a ten/fifteen minute walk, or short drive. For those of you who haven't heard of Infiniti see www.infinitivillas.co.uk in particular their Naturist Page. You are invited to stay all or part of the time.

If you have queries or questions on either of the trips, I can be contacted on membersholiday@british-naturism.org.uk so if you are interested, please get in touch. If you would like to share accommodation I will try to find you a roommate as provisional bookings come in.

The Naked Truth [Naturism]

This article was taken from The Northern Star:

EVER wish you could be as uninhibited and carefree as a naked child, totally free of inhibition and self-consciousness?

We all start out that way, but somewhere along the line we learn to cover up; we learn that our naked adult bodies are to be hidden under clothes, seen only by a chosen few.

But there are some adults - many adults, actually - who refuse to conform to the idea that our bodies are to be clothed at all times.

These people spend a great deal of time totally naked and totally at ease with it.

They're nudists. And they don't much care what you think of them.

The modern idea of nudism stems from Germany, with the establishment of the Association of Free Body Culture in 1949. The association considered themselves a sports organisation and were part of the German Olympic Federation.

These days, nudists are also called naturists. It was only recently that the Australian Nudist Federation changed its name to the Australian Naturist Federation. It sounds a bit more politically correct, but in nudist circles it seems to be considered a watered-down term.

Nudefest 2012 - British Naturism’s Big Summer Event is back! [Events, British Naturism]

BNlogo

Sunday 10 to Sunday 17 June - A whole week of activities and events! A chance to explore Cornwall! Booking now open! Static vans available to hire!

For the second year in a row, British Naturism’s big summer camping event will again take place over a whole week.

Nudefest 2012 will run from midday on Sunday June 10 to midday on Sunday June 17 at Newperran Holiday Park, a 25-acre, 400-pitch, usually-textile camping and caravan park that will – for the sixth year running – become a naturist resort for the duration. British Naturism has arranged to have exclusive use of the whole place and nudity will be permitted throughout.

British Naturism has discovered last year that running this event over a whole week provided a great opportunity for guests to spend time exploring Cornwall and encouraged people to come who had previously decided that it was too far to go just for a weekend.

The early days of Nudefest 2011 saw some of the highlights of the week, with naked coastal walks, a beach day and memorable trips to Adrenalin Quarry, the Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo, home of Solina, the macaque who was guest editor of the autumn 2011 edition of British Naturism Magazine.

The programme for 2012 is still being drawn up, but last year was such a success and the guests were made so welcome by the human staff and the animal residents that a return visit to Solina and her friends could be on the cards!

Nudefest is always great fun and the opportunity to relax and share good times with like-minded people is what stands out, no doubt helped by the programme of events and activities that British Naturism put on at no extra charge.

See following for reports of previous years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

Keep an eye out for full details of Nudefest 2012 as they are announced.

Non- BN members will pay more for their ticket, but can make a big saving if they join British Naturism before the event.

Visit www.newperran.co.uk, email holidays@newperran.co.uk or call them on 0844 3320085 (calls charged at local rate) to book your ticket or request a brochure to find out more about Newperran Holiday Park, including terms and conditions of booking.

Further Information - NEWPERRAN HOLIDAY PARK

Owned and managed by Keith and Christine Brewer, near Newquay in Cornwall, the park features a big heated swimming pool with sunbathing terraces, pub, shop, restaurant, children’s and toddlers’ play areas, and modern shower, washing and toilet blocks. It’s set well back from any roads, is not overlooked and has views of the surrounding countryside, including the sea. It’s also only two-and-a-half miles from the coast and easy to get to, being close to the main road through Cornwall, the A30, with Newquay and Truro, with their rail stations and other transport links, close by.

Newperran Holiday Park has previously won gold and silver in the Camping and Trailer Magazine’s “Campsite of the Year” awards and been named as one of the top ten touring parks in Cornwall by Practical Caravan Guide.

Blackpool 2012 Weekend Will Run For Longer Than Ever! [Events, British Naturism]

BNlogo

Following the success of weekends in 2010 and 2011, British Naturism is delighted to bring you details of their 3rd weekend at the Bond Hotel, Blackpool, run by BN and Blackpool and Fylde Sun Club . . . and the event gets bigger

The hotel will be closed on the Sunday night and so instead of the event concluding after breakfast, we can have activities into the late afternoon. As before, there will be a range of activities, trips out and evening entertainment – British Naturism will bring you full details as soon as they can. Already confirmed are nude visits to Blackpool's new Bierkeller and 10-pin bowling. If you have ideas, or would like to help, British Naturism would love to hear from you. There will be the usual great Saturday night out at The Sandcastle, Blackpool’s waterpark, and the biggest in Europe – www.sandcastle-waterpark.co.uk.

Despite the time of year, it is definitely a naturist event – nudity is permitted throughout the hotel all weekend – “kit-off” time is 5pm on the Friday evening. The Bond Hotel (www.bondhotel.co.uk) is a 65-bedroom hotel in the heart of Blackpool, close to the Pleasure Beach theme park. It has a large lounge, bar area and dining room.

The event is open to all, though non-BN members will pay a premium, and there is a discount again for those that have been before. At this stage, bookings are being taken for the whole weekend – it is not possible to attend The Sandcastle only.

Room rates quoted are for a two-night stay that includes dinner, bed and breakfast, entertainment and entry to The Sandcastle.

The rooms were snapped up quickly last year and so the Bond’s sister hotel 4 miles away in Lytham St Anne’s was made available. It did not work well to have two locations and so for 2012 arrangements have been made for guests to stay in the nearby Premier Inn, a few minutes walk away. The same prices apply with those guests’ coming for meals and entertainment at the Bond Hotel.

British Naturism reports that there were some grumbles about the single supplement charge to lone travellers…and so this year 16 rooms have been made available for single occupancy – so be quick! A couple of them are within “suites” with shared bathrooms, but private, lockable rooms. However, British Naturism will also be running a room-sharing scheme for anyone who misses out and wants to share a room and cut the cost. Please contact British Naturism’s Head Office on 01604 620361. You will be asked for your name and membership number (if applicable) and credit card details. When you have been paired with another sharing scheme guest, a booking will be made by us on your behalf direct with the hotel and confirmed to you.

Naked Youtube Campaign Sweeps The Net [Blast From The Past]

15th April 2008 - A campaign to turn YouTube naked is gathering momentum on the web – with even Hilary Clinton (not the real one) adding her support.

Begun last week by a user known as Chris3ff, the Naked Vlog campaign has seen dozens of site contributors ditch their clothes and discuss everything from their trip to the dentist to the US presidential election.

The basic premise of the campaign – or the 'nude-o-lution' as some are billing it – is that you lose the clothes and film yourself giving a video blog which is then posted to the site.
But in order to conform to YouTube's strict policies about nakedness and decency on the site, all those participating are told to keep it clean and leave everything to the imagination to avoid having the footage taken down.
Everyone who takes part then tags three other YouTube members in an effort to convince them to join in and the nude carnage continues.

With more than 80,000 visitors to the original campaign launch already and over 100 fellow Naked Vloggers the online uprising is gaining attention and is now being featured on YouTube's front page.

Contributors come in all shapes and sizes, from young American girl Katie, or K80Blog, who discusses her upcoming trip to the dentist while covering her modesty to the rather less young FlyingDad who fends off phone calls from his unknowing wife while filming his blog in his birthday suit.

Even a possible future US president, or at least an imitator of one, has got involved with one user donning a Hilary Clinton wig and little else and tagging Barack Obama to follow suit.

Another user, who calls herself Jill from New York City – otherwise known as xgobobeanx – becomes a hippy, paints flowers on her face and calls for a new Summer of Love before recounting lyrics to John Lennon's Revolution in a high-pitched squeal.

To see the trippy video check out the footage below.

The craze has spread to Britain and model-actor Jane Postlethwaite, who is known online as Stylist Brighton, is one of many UK users to have joined in.

Writing on her blog she admits that the response to her video strip – she had more than 5,000 views within a few days of posting – has surprised her.

"So, I did my naked vlog after being tagged by Billilovesmargot," she wrote. "In 24 hours I get over 20 subscribers! Now I am a little worried they think I am going to be naked in all my videos."

Cesária Évora - Live @ Ligereza-FranceInter [Music]

Cesaria Evora - Live @ Ligereza-FranceInter Concert recorded October 30, 2009.

Cesária Évora [Heroes Of iNAKED]

Cesária Évora (27 August 1941 – 17 December 2011) was a Cape Verdean popular singer. Nicknamed The Barefoot Diva for performing without shoes, she was also The Queen of Morna.

Life And Career

Cise (as her friends used to call her) was born on 27 August 1941 in Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde. When she was seven years old her father died, and at age ten she was placed in an orphanage, as her mother could not raise all six children. Aged 16, she was persuaded by a friend to sing in a sailors' tavern.

In the 1960s, she started singing on Portuguese cruise ships stopping at Mindelo as well as on the local radio. It was only in 1985 when at the invitation of Cape Verdean singer Bana she went to perform in Portugal. In Lisbon she was discovered by the musician José da Silva and invited to record in Paris.

Évora's international success came only in 1988 with the release of her first album La Diva Aux Pieds Nus recorded in France. Her 1992 album Miss Perfumado sold over 300,000 copies worldwide.

Her 1995 album Cesária brought her broader international success and the first Grammy Award nomination. In 1997, she won KORA All African Music Awards in three categories: Best Artist of West Africa, Best Album and Merit of the Jury.In 2004, her album Voz d'Amor was awarded a Grammy in the World music category.

In 2010, Évora performed a series of concerts, the last of which was in Lisbon on 8 May. Two days later, after a heart attack, she was operated on at a hospital in Paris. On the morning of 11 May she was taken off artificial pulmonary ventilation, and on 16 May she was discharged from the intensive care unit and transported to a clinic for further treatment. In late September 2011, Évora's agent announced she was ending her career due to poor health.

On 17 December 2011, aged 70, Évora died in São Vicente, Cape Verde, from respiratory failure and hypertension. A Spanish newspaper reported that 48 hours before her death she was still receiving people -and smoking- in her home in Mindelo, popular for always having its doors open.

Running Debate On Shoes Vs Bare Feet [Barefoot]

This article was taken from Shanghai Daily:

DESPITE the cold and many other potential hazards, naked from the ankle down is the way Anna Toombs likes it, and she gets plenty of catcalls in the street as a result.

The 35-year-old co-founder of the personal training company Barefoot Running UK says she's lost count of the times people yell "where are your shoes?" as she and partner David Robinson negotiate London's parks and pavements to indulge their passion and train their clients.

"People give you a lot of weird looks," says Robinson.

They are also getting a lot of inquiries.

A surge of interest in "natural" or barefoot training has seen runners around the world kick off their arch-supporting, motion-controlling, heel-cushioning shoes and try to feel the ground beneath their feet.

Top scientists - from sports physicians to podiatrists to evolutionary biologists - are jumping in too.

Footwear makers are cashing in on "minimalist" or "natural" running shoes.

"It's a polarized debate - there are the barefoot evangelicals on one side and the aggressive anti-barefoots on the other," says Ross Tucker, an expert in exercise physiology at South Africa's University of Cape Town and a mid- and long-distance running coach.

Born to run?

The current barefoot trend has its roots in the book "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. He writes of time spent with Mexico's Tarahumara tribe who can run huge distances barefoot, often very fast, apparently without suffering injuries that plague many runners in the developed world.

The debate centers on whether running in shoes with cushioned heels and support structures changes the way we move so dramatically that it's likely to cause injuries.

Barefoot proponents say running the natural way is more likely to prompt a runner to land on the padded and springy part of the foot, toward the front, not strike the ground with the heel as many shod runners do.

In a study published in the journal Nature last year, Daniel Lieberman, an evolutionary biology professor at Harvard University, sought to find out how our ancestors, who ran and hunted for millions of years in bare feet or simple moccasins, coped with the impact of the foot hitting the ground.

Lieberman and colleagues from Britain and Kenya studied runners who had always run barefoot, those who had always worn shoes and those who abandoned shoes.

They found that barefoot endurance runners often land on the fore-foot before bringing down the heel, while shod runners mostly rear-foot strike, prompted by the raised and cushioned heels of modern running shoes.

Impact

In a series of analyses, they found that even on hard surfaces, barefoot runners who fore-foot strike generate smaller "collision forces" - less impact - than rear-foot strikers in shoes. Barefoot runners also had a springier step and used calf and foot muscles more efficiently.

Lieberman stresses that the scientific evidence on whether barefoot running is better in terms of injuries is still very unclear.

"A lot of people are arguing on the basis of passion, anecdote, emotion or financial gain - but what's quite true is there are no good data saying whether it's better for you or worse for you," he says.

But he has already voted with his feet.

As has biology professor Daniel Howell, who teaches human anatomy and physiology at Liberty University in the US.

Howell, dubbed the "Barefoot Professor" by his students after he began living 95 percent shoe-free, admits he's an extremist.

He's spent almost all the past six years barefoot, he's run thousands of miles in all weathers and across many terrains without footwear, and he refers to shoes rather skeptically as "devices."

Shoes or devices?

"Barefoot is the natural condition. It's the most natural way to be," he says. "Walking and running are extremely complicated from a bio-mechanical perspective ... and if you add a device to your foot, it alters it.

"When you put on a device, it changes the way you stand, the way you walk and the way you run. Those changes are unnatural, and generally negative."

While it's true that almost all modern athletes use running shoes in international sporting competitions, a few barefooters have been trailblazers for the cause.

Back in 1960 Ethiopia's Abebe Bikila, one of the world's greatest Olympic marathon runners, won the first of his consecutive gold medals without shoes, covering 26.2 miles in 2 hours, 15 minutes and 17 seconds. And in 1984, South African barefoot runner Zola Budd set a track world record when she ran 5,000 meters in 15 minutes and 1.83 seconds.

Simon Bartold, a sports podiatrist and international research consultant for the sports brand Asics, says most athletes, amateur or otherwise, should stick to wearing shoes.

"I'd come down pretty heavily in favor of footwear," he says. "It does offer some real protection and some real performance advantages over barefoot."

Still, Asics and other big running shoe brands like Nike , New Balance and Saucony see no reason to be excluded from this new and potentially lucrative form of the sport just because it's about running in bare feet.

A nifty rebranding of the trend to "natural" or "minimalist" running has opened up a potential new market in "barefoot running shoes" that promise to be the closest thing to wearing nothing at all.

For Howell, even minimalist shoes are a step too far. "For most people, under most circumstances, most of the time, barefoot is the healthiest and most natural way to be," he said.

Toombs, whose clients often come to her with injuries or illnesses that are restricting their movement, is concerned that scientific rows about the biomechanics of foot strikes, and efforts by sports brands to cash in, are robbing barefoot running of its best bits.

Formerly an enthusiastic shod runner, she says training without shoes is partly about getting back to nature, but it's also about learning a better way to run, using the body's bounce and balance to improve form and reduce impact.

"With barefoot running ... each time my foot strikes the ground, it lands slightly differently," she says. "In other words it's adjusting to what's underneath it."

Why Is Nudity So Attractive To Those That Have Experienced It?

This article is from Sunkissed - Australian Naturists:

I must say that I find that the more time I spend naked the more I want to.

As I am reinforcing my natural state, I guess that makes sense. It is good for the body and the mind so any wonder it is so attractive.

When the weather is inclement on the weekends I really miss the trip down to Cobblers beach where I can be naked and enjoy the outdoors without the concern that someone may see me and be offended.

Could Nudist Travel Development Grant Help Pasco? [Travel]

This article was taken from New Port Richey, FL Patch:

There's a snowbird season in Florida, and soon there will be a "Eurobird" season in Pasco County.

The nonprofit Pasco Area Naturist Development Association (PANDAbare) began formulating the plan to market Pasco County to European travelers earlier this year. The Eurobird project includes a variety of marketing efforts to bring the naturist resorts of Pasco County to the attention of vacationing Europeans.

That plan got a boost today with the county commission's 4-1 vote to approve a $3,818 tourism development grant to PANDAbare to promote the area's naturist communities.

The grant marks the first time Pasco commissioners will use public money to promote the county as a destination for naturists, according to a Tampa Tribune report.

Commissioner Jack Mariano voted against the measure. But most of the board felt the effort was worthwhile to "try and draw people from other countries," Commissioner Pat Mulieri said in an email.

There are more naturists living in Pasco than anywhere else in the country, and yet very few of the 19 million naturists in Europe know Pasco County is a naturist destination, PANDAbare president Paul Brenot said.

"We have multiple resorts all right next to each other, but in the summer, we don't have the tourists," Brenot said.

European naturists who often vacation for several weeks at a time during the slow months of July and August can make the resorts of Pasco their base camp, with the attractions of Central Florida at their doorstep, Brenot said.

Disney World, the beaches, the Space Coast— "Nowhere else in the world is this available" to naturists, Brenot said.

"They say if you build it, they will come. Well, it's built, they just don't know about it yet," Brenot said.

The grant money from the county will help to change that. And if the marketing efforts are successful, Brenot sees potential benefits not only to the naturist resorts, but also for the county as a whole.

"It has the potential to make money for Pasco," Brenot said.

From revenues for the county, to revenues for small businesses, to job creation, "it's just one of those perfect marriages," Brenot said.

The organization also is working to gain 501c3 status, Brenot said. In addition to promoting Pasco as a destination for naturists, part of its outreach includes education about the naturist lifestyle.

Once you begin to understand to understand naturism, you realize what a wonderful community of accepting people it is, Brenot said.

Topless Protester Was 'Abducted And Beaten' In Belarus

This article is from The Independent, The story was first published on 23 December 2011:

A Ukrainian woman who dared to hold a topless protest outside the headquarters of Belarus's feared KGB has told The Independent how she and her colleagues were abducted by security agents and subjected to a terrifying ordeal that included beatings, mock executions and having a corrosive substance thrown in their hair.

Inna Shevchenko, an activist with the controversial Ukrainian feminist group Femen, described how masked men told her she would "breathe her final breath" as they cut up her hair with a knife and beat her for daring to protest inside the quasi-Stalinist state.

The 21-year-old had travelled to Belarus on 19 December with two friends to demonstrate against the ongoing crackdown by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. In a country where insulting the dignity of the president is a criminal offence, the trio stripped to their waists and put on fake moustaches to lampoon Mr Lukashenko, who is often described as Europe's last dictator.

Femen's modus operandi involves going topless to highlight feminist and human rights causes. The group had never travelled to Belarus, a country that languishes close to the bottom in international rankings for free speech.

We think these images from the 2012 Pirelli calendar speak for themselves. With Mario Sorrenti behind the lens and numerous legendary models to boot, what’s not to love about these gorgeous images?! Sorrenti was the first Italian to shoot the calendar – and he did so on the small island of Corsica. The beautiful images feature beautiful models such as: Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls, Guinevere Van Seenus, Malgosia, Edita Vilkevicute, Kate Moss, Milla Jovovich, Margareth Made, and Rinko Kikuchi.

Together We Stand [Body Image]

"Together we stand, totally nude. The way we are born. When totally nude we are finally true individuals, even though we all have similar parts, no two person is ever the same, even twins are different. Also when totally nude we no longer have class distinction either, as we all share the same loves, likes, fears and dreams. Job titles are also meaningless. Can you tell the marketing expert from the photographer, or the scientist from the office clerk? When nude we are equal to each other yet we maintain our individuality."

My Daughter, The Teenage Nudist [Documentary]

Many of you will remember that I, NAKED VEGAN COOKING and British Naturism worked closely with a UK TV company called ZKK during the summer and beyond on a documentary for Channel 4. It's finished now and - according to the currently published schedules - will be broadcast at 10pm on Thursday January 12th (UK).

British Naturism has seen a preview and they say it's good! It is not about BN or iNAKED nor naturism per se, but follows the journey of a number of young people as they explore social nudity and get involved, and discuss cultural, conventional and body image issues and attitudes. New YBN leader, Daryl Jones features in it a great deal and is always seen as the "BN man". The title (see above) is not one that I or British Naturism would choose and I understand ZKK argued for something better too, but Channel 4 insisted - it will certainly make people watch it - Channel 4 hope for a couple of million at least. We can expect a lot of attention when it goes out and in fact Channel 4 are so enamoured with it that they will be putting their big publicity guns behind it and we must be ready to exploit it - for everyone's benefit!

In preparation - Channel 4 as already got a page for the documentary on its website, which you can see here.

Anyone who is hoping to see me on the show, sorry to disappoint but I won't be on it as I decided at the time of filming over the summer that I was not ready to go on TV.

Is Pubic Hair Coming Back Into Fashion? [Fashion]

This article is from Jezebel:

New pictures of Dutch model Saskia De Brauw in vintage Versace jewelry, stilettos, and nothing else, shot for the magazine Industrie are notable for one thing: they actually show her pubic hair. While toplessness is practically a staple of fashion photography, a frank depiction of pubic hair — or even just the acknowledgement of pubic hair's existence — had become a sort of oughts-age taboo.

This year's Pirelli Calendar, which Mario Sorrenti turned into a 24-oversized-page celebration of the male gaze, was obviously rife with full-frontal nudity. But at the key moment, a funny kind of modesty prevails: here a wrist obscures Lara Stone's crotch, there a shadow falls over Kate Moss's, and there the soaking wet white garment that fully reveals the shape of Isabeli Fontana's areolas pulls discreetly, and opaquely, away. Everything gets slightly blurry at the crucial cleft. From the waist down, these women are all shown to be about as featureless as Barbie. De Brauw, coincidentally, also posed for Sorrenti's calendar: her shots betray no hint of the hair Industrie was apparently comfortable enough to let her rock.

Travelzest Offloads Holiday Brands [Travel]

This article was taken from Express & Star:

The owner of the UK’s biggest naturist holiday operator has put a host of under-performing businesses up for sale.

Travelzest, which owns nudist firm Peng Travel as well as luxury brands such as Best of Morocco and Captivating Cuba, wants to focus on its more successful operations in Canada and up-and-coming brands such as flight.co.uk.

The strategy was unveiled following the collapse of takeover talks after a bid from Canadian travel firm Red Label came in “significantly” short of hopes.

Travelzest said potential buyers had been identified for a number of the businesses and brands up for sale, although it has not disclosed which UK operations it plans to offload.

Other brands in its UK portfolio include JMB Travel, which specialises in opera holidays, and VFB Holidays, which offers self-catering breaks in France.

The company will retain its headquarters in Cheltenham but said 90% of its revenues and profits will come from its Canadian operations, which include itravel2000 and The Cruise Professionals.

It said the measures were expected to improve underlying operating profits by around £1.5 million a year.

Chairman Mark Molyneux said: “By divesting those assets that are not performing, particularly in the current very difficult economic climate in the UK, which contrasts with much better conditions in Canada, we are building a stronger business that is well positioned for future growth.”

In July, Travelzest said its UK operations were struggling in an “exceptionally difficult” trading environment, with summer departures down by 57% on a year earlier.

Dawn Get's Naked (2007) [Documentary]

Dawn Porter bares all in order to reveal how our idea of perfection has been perverted to fit the demands of the beauty industry. Spurred on to try and change attitudes and expectations of the female form, Dawn sets about organising what she hopes will become the ultimate female Flashmob.

Last broadcasted on UK TV on the 17 September 2008.

Dawn Gets Naked

BORN IN 68 [Film]

This is a clip from a film called Born in '68. Conceived as a two-part TV series, this sprawling melodrama from French filmmakers Oliver Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (Cockles And Muscles) follows a group of Parisian student radicals from 1968 over the next four decades, as History with a capital H intrudes on their lives and those of their children.

15 Top Reasons To Be Naked! [Naturism]

ian22753
1. It's fun! Of course, it's not for everyone, but then, neither is Madonna nor the Red Hot Chili Peppers, NBA basketball nor Batman. But once most young couples and boyfriends/girlfriends try it, they come back. Why? Because it's fun. You probably know people who have vacationed at nude beaches, who skinny-dip in their backyard pool or who lounge around the house nude. Why not?

2. It's healthy! Besides improved self-esteem, the sun relieves stress, provides you with Vitamin D, a tan with SPF 4 protection and helps clear acne. Naturists don't overdo their time in the sun; they tan safely with a sunscreen.

3. It feels good! You know how gross those jeans and bra straps feel on a hot sticky day? Or that wet swimsuit when you come out of the water! No more! Trade it in for the feeling of wind on your back and the sun on your body! Cool!

4. Self-esteem! You'll feel great about yourself! Nudity helps you become more open and accept yourself for whom you are, not whether you measure up to the supermodels you see in ads. Welcome to a place that does not measure value as a human being by body size! It makes you a stronger, more confident person.

5. Be yourself! You can express your individuality! Everyone accepts you as you are, whether you have a disability, are overweight, dyed your hair purple, or have a great tattoo that your friends hate. People are attracted by your personality! Everybody's different, and that is respected!

6. So much to do! Volleyball, swimming, basketball, suntanning, golf, tennis, and all sorts of other activities. There is just about anything you do at any campground or beach. Only more.

7. You are in full control! You decide when you arrive and leave. You decide what to do when you are there! Just like if you went to the beach. But better! If its your first visit, you decide when or even if you want to disrobe! Its normal to feel apprehensive on your first visit, but since you're in control, you have nothing to lose by checking it out!

8. You can be you! It's so refreshing to be someplace where nudity is not sex, unlike ads, movies or TV. You don't have to look like an actor or actress from Baywatch! Nobody's staring to see if you have a great body or if you're overweight or too thin! Nobody is checking you out at all! It doesn't matter if your belly button is an inny or an outy! It's OK!

9. No sex! Everyone in a nudist park is having an orgy? NOT! That is Myth # 1! (People who think nudity is about sex find it a lot more convenient to go to strip bars. Besides, the naturist resort owners don't let those people in anyways.) Lewd behaviour is NOT allowed. Ever!

10. Safety! You're in a no-jerks zone! People treat you the way you want to be treated. Problems are taken care of right away, especially for women, so they don't feel vulnerable. You won't run into problems like at public beaches where people stare at bathing suits, giving their imaginations free reign.

11. Popularity and confidentiality! You'll be part of the group! Already, thousands of Canadians are nudists. But nudism is totally confidential, so nobody knows. Naturist parks are in discreet, strictly private areas, well back from roads. Those who go accept newcomers anonymity. All naturists respect confidentiality. The only people who know you enjoy nudism are those you tell. And if you meet someone at a resort you know, don't worry about it. They're there for the same reasons as you, to have fun.

12. Skinny-dipping! All those University of British Columbia students can't be wrong! You've heard about all those great topless and nude beaches elsewhere in the world, Europe, the Caribbean, Florida. But North America's second-largest nude beach is Vancouver's Wreck Beach, just at the base of a cliff on the edge of the University of British Columbia. On a hot summer day you'll find 12,000 nude people (UBC students wouldn't cut class, would they?)! There are smaller nude beaches in every province in Canada.

13. It doesn't cost a lot! You don't put out the big bucks for a fun time.

14. It's Natural! If people were meant to go naked, they would have been born that way!!!

15. No tan lines! BONUS!

The Nudist Dances [Poetry]

She is a nudist
An exhibitionist in her community
A statue of her own making

She believes in the goddess of earth and nature
A free spirited human
Content with her existence
A nudist that dances salsa, merengue, and tangos without clothing

The movements excite her
The moments tantalize her and put her mind in an exotic hedonism

Some will like her
Others will dislike her
Many are anxious to sunbathe with her

She is a nudist in her community, where this is somewhat accepted.

In the midst of promoting her nudity she forgets that her own son is disgusted with her.

She is a nudist
One that is content with her
One the world is not content with

A nudist in her skin
A nudist in her own right
A nudist who is comfortable with her body

She pleases herself first
She is a nudist
One who is a happy-go-lucky.

403: Forbidden - Naturism

This article was taken from Being and Nakedness:

This article originally appeared in (the now defunct) Internet Underground magazine for June 1997. "403: Forbidden" is (was) a column devoted to topics that are often taboo in "mainstream" media but have been able to receive more sympathetic attention on the Web.

Have you ever met a nudist? You almost certainly have, because they are among your friends, neighbors, and co-workers, though you are likely not aware of it. Nudists generally don't go naked where you might see them, nor do they tend to advertise their presence. They aren't wild-eyed radicals, either, just very ordinary-seeming folks when they have clothes on. They often don't admit, even to close friends, that they really like not wearing clothes.

Because, in most "advanced" societies, the taboos around nudity are even stronger than those around sex. People in casual conversation or on national televison may happily ramble on about the details of their sex life. Nudists have generally not been so open, even though by conservative estimates, several million people in North America enjoy certain kinds of recreation (like swimming) in the nude, or simply like being naked when at home.

This secretiveness is changing, however. People have been talking about recreational nudity on the rec.nude newsgroup for many years. (It was one of the first newsgroups in the early days of Usenet, because computer people seem to be likelier than average to enjoy nudity.) And now many personal Web pages are appearing, announcing the owner's interest in nudism and candidly advocating its advantages over "clothes compulsiveness". I keep pretty good track of this, since one goal of my pages is to catalog all the Web sites - around 500 of them - that have something of interest to people who like to be naked. It's now quite easy to meet nudists on the Web if you want to fathom why anyone would rather not wear clothes.

What do nudists put on their Web sites? Occasional pictures - generally the kind only family and friends could like - very disappointing to porn hounds. Stories about adventures au naturel. But often: essays that try to explain Why. Nudists feel they've been badly misunderstood by mainstream society.

With some justification. Misinformation in mainstream media often receives the blame for the taboo on nudity. For instance, many nudists, prefer to be called "naturists", and they refer to their philosophy as "naturism" rather than "nudism" - because being naked is natural. We were born that way. The underlying philosophy is acceptance of the body just as it is.

One of the two main nudist organizations in the U. S. is known as The Naturist Society ( http://www.naturist.com). Yet most outsiders have never heard of the terms "naturist" and "naturism". If they have, the assumption is of having to do with watching birds or collecting bugs, confusing "naturists" with "naturalists". Also, naturists never refer to places where they gather as "colonies". "Parks", "camps", or "resorts", please. The American Association for Nude Recreation (http://www.aanr.com) wants to emphasize the recreational connotations of these latter words.

In fact, naturists have in the last few decades been able to enjoy the outdoors in public (though usually remote) beaches, rivers, and forests. Word about the best places to go, or to avoid, spreads rapidly over the Net. This has led to a predictable backlash from the "family values" crowd, who have mounted an aggressive effort to stamp out nudity everywhere. Such people would be astonished to learn that there are many conservative religious folks who like to be naked with others, and see no conflict between that and their religion. Religious naturists even have their own organizations and Web pages.

But most irritating to naturists is the mainstream tendency to confuse nudity with sex. Adult naturists enjoy sex as much as anyone else, but that isn't the reason they like not wearing clothes. What they do like is the comfort, relaxation, stress reduction, and feeling of freedom that being naked offers, as well as the camaraderie and openness they find in socialing with others of similar mind.

Most of the problems that naturists have to contend with stem from this misconception that naturism is a sexual interest. It incurs the wrath of conservative religionists, it deters families and body-conscious young adults from participating, and it attracts people whose interest actually is sexual. On the Net, this confusion has hampered networking among naturists. Yahoo! usually ignores requests to add naturist sites to their index. Excite classifies nudist sites as an "X- & R-rated Subtopic", along with prostitution and strip joints. This is badly mistaken, but Excite has ignored protests. Some other search engines don't even index nudist sites because "nudism" is assumed to be a code word for sexual content.

In spite of such problems, naturism, as a lifestyle and a philosophy, is definitely coming out of the closet, thanks in part to the Net. So it's no longer difficult to find people who like to talk about just why naturism deserves not to remain a well-kept secret.
