Gay Nudist Group Celebrates 20 Years [Naturism, LGBT]
Founded by community member Rod Spark in 1991, Sydney Sunboys was the city’s first gay social nudist group and this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Described as ‘a group for men who want to explore being naked with other men in a non-sexual environment’, the group was born out of Spark’s overseas travels.
“After travelling extensively in Europe and North America in the late ’80s, I ‘discovered’ gay nudism,” Spark said. “When I returned to Australia in 1990 I asked myself why are there none here. I collected a group of friends together to host the first event and it has been a lifelong experience since then.
“Many of the original Sunboys are still avid nudists and still some of my best friends.”
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, the Sunboys will host a get-together at a private residence in Neutral Bay on November 5.
