2naked have been founded in 2008 by Bianka Langnickel and Thomas as a photo project in the framework of the international art-project "Synapses" in Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova.
Back in this time 2naked went on travels through Republic of Moldova and Romania where they photographed themselves naked in the same pose again and again. This scenic photo series, has been shown in such places as the former State Circus Chisinau (Moldova) and the Neues Museum in Weimar (Germany). The viewer receives a closer look at private homes of various families in the Balkan, where the two artists lived and worked during their travels. Country-specific peculiarities, as well as personal characteristics of the inhabitants themselves, can be observed in each of the photographs.
The intention of the work - to address the space surround the two naked people, has been in main focus of artistic conception from the beginning. So 2naked wishes to raise their approach to a higher level, in new places. The town itself, now becomes the medium of association and offers scope for the viewer. This is achieved by a complete 2naked delimitation of the subject from the outer trappings. The only motifs that are displayed now are the two naked bodies, within real places, in a constantly changing context.
Nevertheless, the passer is not left alone with the artwork. As a project 2naked utilises networking, the opportunity is there for the viewer to visit the site (www.2naked.org) connecting with other places, creating a new way of identifying the outlook. The viewer can even participate, personally, through 2Naked's online platform.
