In connection with the production of the documentary film "The Naked Dream", Dalchows verden seeks persons who wish to overcome their embarrassment of being naked. Who wish to challenge themselves.Filmmaker Jan Dalchow would like to get in touch with persons who wish to overcome their embarrassment, anxiety, fear or phobia of nudity. One or several individuals with a desire to challenge themselves.
Mainly their own nudity in the company of others, but perhaps their discomfort with other people's nudity as well. This could for instance apply to situations like shared dressing rooms/showers, sun bathing and swimming. Maybe you know someone who would like to invite you to a nude beach, which you would like to check out, but still have not had the nerve to do so.
To begin with, your contact with us will of course be completely non-committal and confidential. If the project sounds interesting to both you and us, our intention is that we, in the film, will follow you in your own process of approaching a level of comfort, maybe even enjoyment, in being undressed in the company of others. In that case, you will be one of several persons we will follow in our film. All of them with various "dreams" of nudity.
Our plan is to start shooting "The Naked Dream" in the summer of 2012, but some scenes will possibly be filmed earlier. The film is intended for an international audience, in theatres, on TV, and via the Internet.
In personal encounters, we will get under the skin of some people's fear of nudity in the company of others, and some people's experience of the freedom achieved by crossing boundaries and shedding one's clothes. This will be a rare confrontation with our fears and prejudices, and a test of existing norms. Totally uncensored.
Interpretations of preliminary results from a simple study carried out in connection with the film may indicate that a majority wish to live without embarrassment of being naked around other people. They would find it liberating. However, the condition for practising nudity would for most of them be that nudity would be generally accepted.
Personally, I'm a practising "naturist,", and have been so since I was 17 years old, at first secretly, but for the last 15 years together with other people. I have always had a hard time understanding why nudity is so taboo, and I have always wondered why swimwear is such a good idea while swimming or sunbathing. The motivation for making this film is an obvious wish to promote a greater openness towards body and nudity, and a less sensational and tabloid focus. In the hope of contributing to a more relaxed attitude towards social nudity. Because I believe this would benefit us.
Jan DalchowJan Dalchow has worked as a producer and director mainly of documentary films since 1996. His films have been shown on international TV stations and in theatres, as well as on a number of fim festivals. They have also been released on DVD. Several of the films have been nominated and awarded prizes both domestically and abroad.
