Survival is the worldwide movement for tribal peoples whose lives, lands and livelihoods are threatened.

Throughout Africa, Asia and beyond, tribal peoples face challenges to their land and welfare from mining, cattle ranchers, missionaries and other intruders bringing violence and disease.

For over 40 years, Survival have brought attention to their situations, supported their struggles and given them a platform to convey their message. We have supported court cases, launched massive media stories and carried out high-profile protests with great success.

Their work has led to the demarcation of tribal reserves, the abandonment of oil exploration projects and a far greater global awareness of the issue.

All this happens independently of governmental or corporate sponsorship, thanks to their supporters. They work towards a world where tribal peoples have their land rights respected, their human rights upheld and the opportunity to decide their futures.

World's Lost Tribes [Tribal Peoples and Cultures]

Join extreme travellers Mark Anstice and Olly Steeds as they embark on unique expeditions into some of the most remote places on Earth.

Explorer, Mark and journalist Olly have spent months with two remarkable indigenous tribes in West Papua - the Kombai and the Mek - trekking high into uncharted highlands, seeking total immersion in isolated cultures with histories of tribal war, sorcery and witchcraft.

In this hugely different world, Brits Mark and Olly attempt to live off the land, exactly like their hosts. It's a hardcore challenge because not only do they have to learn how to survive on a largely unusual (and often unpalatable) diet, they must also work alongside the tribes, learn new languages and understand each tribe's rituals.

Much of their lives is very recognizable though, this is a clip of a young couple and their shotgun wedding.

Naked Amazon Awa tribe initiate BBC [Video]

The global demand for Brazil's resources, in particular from China, is affecting its indigenous people, like the Awa.

They live almost entirely off what they can find in the forest, but logging and farming is threatening their way of life.
